Dr. Klein is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology. He earned his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine, New York State program, Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola NY, where he served as chief resident and performed his fellowship training in hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology at Washington University – Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Klein previously served as laboratory director and chief medical officer of Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network in Maryville, TN. His special interests include neoplastic hematopathology, molecular diagnostics and FISH in oncology, and clinical trial laboratory testing. In addition to his role at Labcorp pathology, Dr. Klein serves as medical director of Labcorp Oncology. He is a member of American Society for Clinical Pathology and Association for Molecular Pathology.

    Dr Shoji is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He received his medical degree and doctorate from Toho University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, and completed his residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Brown University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Dermatology at Boston University under Dr Barbara Gilchrest, a fellowship in dermatopathology including 6 months of dermatology at Boston Medical Center under Dr Jag Bhawan, and a fellowship in surgical pathology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine under Dr J.J. Steinberg. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and an associate member of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has authored many articles on endocrine science, melanocytic lesions, and other adnexal neoplasms in basic science and clinical journals. Dr Shoji was an assistant professor of dermatology and pathology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He joined Labcorp pathology in 2000 and served as a medical director in dermatopathology and immunopathology before joining Laboratory of Dermatopathology, where he served as a director of immunopathology. In June 2009, he rejoined Labcorp pathology as a medical director of dermatopathology.

    Dr Shen is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He received his medical degree from Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, China, and holds a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology from the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Ill. Dr Shen completed his pathology residency training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine where he was chief resident physician, a surgical pathology fellow, and a dermatopathology fellow. He was the winner of 2 NIH National Service Awards in tumor pathology and the College of American Pathologists Foundation’s Informatics Awards for 3 consecutive years. Previously, Dr Shen practiced as a general pathologist in the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, Anaheim, Calif.

    Dr Cai is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He earned his medical degree from Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China. Dr Cai completed his dermatology residency training at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Medical University and his anatomic and clinical pathology residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he also completed a dermatopathology fellowship. Dr Cai has published several papers in the field of dermatopathology.

    Dr Dumas is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and in dermatopathology. He received his medical degree from l’Université d’Aix-Marseille, France. He completed a residency in pathology and a fellowship in dermatopathology with Dr Robert Phelps at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Before joining Labcorp pathology, Dr Dumas was a staff pathologist with American Medical Laboratories in Virginia.

    Dr Etufugh is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He received his medical education at New York University School of Medicine followed by an internship in medicine at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center, an academic affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed an internship in neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/ Massachusetts General Hospital before transferring to pathology. He continued his training at Baylor University Medical Center, where he completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. Dr Etufugh completed his fellowship in dermatopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He has completed a dermatology research/clinical trials fellowship, studying wound healing and artificial skin substitutes, at Boston University. Dr Etufugh has published in various prominent journals and is a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. He is also a member of the International Society of Dermatopathology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Dallas-Ft Worth Dermatology Society, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists, among other professional societies.

    Dr McCardle is board certified in anatomic pathology and dermatopathology. He earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed a pathology residency at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital, where he also completed a surgical pathology fellowship. He then completed a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of South Florida. Dr McCardle’s independent research on frontal polymerizations led him to design and develop a technique, now known as ascending frontal polymerizations, that led to his developing and patenting a new class of plastics called functionally gradient polymers. Dr McCardle is a member of the American College of Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the International Society of Dermatopathology.

    Dr Puri is board certified in anatomic pathology and dermatopathology. She received her medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk and a graduate certificate in epidemiology from the George Washington University School of Health Sciences. She completed an anatomic pathology residency at George Washington University and a dermatopathology fellowship at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Penn. Before joining Labcorp pathology, Dr Puri was an assistant professor of pathology and dermatology at Duke University Medical Center. She currently serves on the editorial board for Cutis and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Pathology. She has extensive experience as a national speaker and presenter. Dr Puri is a member of the United States Cutaneous Lymphoma Consortium, the International Society for Dermatopathology, the American Society of Dermatopathology Young Physicians’ Committee, the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

    Dr. Tarasen is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology in Dermatopathology, Anatomic Pathology, and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Tarasen completed her Dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Department of Dermatology. During fellowship training her time was split between seeing patients in dermatology clinic and dermatopathology. Dr. Tarasen grew up in California and the US Virgin Islands. She entered medical school early through the combined pre-med/MD program at St. George’s University, and completed her clinical rotations in New York City. Dr. Tarasen trained under nationally and internationally renowned Dermatopathologist Andrew Carlson during residency at Albany Medical College where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Tarasen has published many peer-reviewed articles and presented platform presentations at the American Society of Dermatopathology, the International Society of Dermatopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. Dr. Tarasen works closely with doctors specializing in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Otolaryngology, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Podiatry to accurately diagnose diseases of the skin.

     

    Martin C. Mihm, Jr, MD

    Dr Mihm is a world-renowned international consultant for melanoma and other skin tumors, including lymphoma. As the director of the The Mihm Cutaneous Pathology Consultative Service, a second opinion dermatopathology service at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr Mihm brings over 30 years of expertise and is triple board certified in dermatology, pathology, and dermatopathology.  He is also cochairman of the Melanoma Pathology Program of the European Organization of the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).  Dr Mihm has coauthored numerous articles and several books concerning skin pathology.

He completed a surgical anatomy fellowship at Yale University. Dr Riba assumed a position of assistant professor at Yale University, CT. She received her medical degree from Neimenggu (Inner Mongolia) Medical College and was appointed as an assistant professor at Peking Union Medical College in China. She earned her PhD from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky. Dr Liu completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Louisville. She then completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Her clinical interests are gastrointestinal pathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular oncology. Dr Liu has extensive research experience in areas including molecular biology and pharmacology. She also has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented frequently in national academic meetings. Her recent clinical research in esophageal carcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors has resulted in publications in the American Journal of Surgical Pathology and Modern Pathology.

    Dr Tennyson is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He received his doctorate in experimental pathology and his medical degree from the State University of New York in Stony Brook. Dr Tennyson completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill and a fellowship in surgical and gastrointestinal pathology at the University of Pennsylvania. After a visiting fellowship in hepatopathology with Professor Peter Scheuer at the Royal Free Hospital in London, Dr Tennyson assumed positions as assistant professor and head of the liver pathology unit at the University of Alabama. He was then an associate professor and director of anatomic pathology at the University of Florida Medical Center in Jacksonville before joining the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.     Dr Weinstein is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in cytopathology and in anatomic and clinical pathology. She earned her medical degree at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and did her residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Her areas of expertise and interest include surgical pathology (with particular interest in oral and otorhinolaryngic pathology), thyroid pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and cytopathology (with an emphasis on fine needle aspiration performance and interpretation).     Dr Ditelberg is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his residency in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following residency, he stayed at Beth Israel Deaconess to complete a fellowship in gastrointestinal pathology and surgical pathology under the supervision of Drs Harvey Goldman and Donald Antonioli. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. He recently completed a 6-year term on the American College of Gastroenterology Public Relations Committee. Dr Ditelberg has published numerous articles and abstracts on gastrointestinal pathology. Prior to joining Labcorp pathology, he was an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Tufts University Medical School and was Director of Anatomic Pathology at a community hospital.

    Dr Poole is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. After graduating from the University of Kansas Medical School, Dr Poole was a surgical intern at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He then returned to the University of Kansas as a surgical resident and subsequently transferred to pathology. Dr Poole completed both a residency and fellowship in surgical pathology and cytology. He joined the UroCor division of Labcorp pathology in the fall of 1994. He has seen more than 120,000 prostate biopsies and has contributed to articles regarding suspicious focus on prostate needle biopsy and twelve-core needle biopsy sampling.     Dr Peng is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed his training in anatomic and clinical pathology at New York University Medical Center. He extended his stay at NYU Medical Center for a surgical pathology fellowship. He moved to Oklahoma City in October of 1999 after a year of practicing general surgical pathology and cytopathology in a private lab in New York City. Dr Peng also holds a doctorate in toxicology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has research experience in analytical chemistry and molecular biology.

    Dr Zhang is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and in cytopathology. He received his medical degree from Shanghai Medical University in the People’s Republic of China. He completed residency training at Shanghai Medical University–Zhongshan Hospital and the University of Maryland Hospital System. He did a fellowship in cytopathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Zhang is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

    Dr Epstein is an internationally recognized authority in uropathology. He has authored more than 700 articles, 4 books, and 22 book chapters in the field. Dr Epstein graduated from Boston University School of Medicine. He trained in anatomic pathology at Johns Hopkins where he was chief resident and completed a fellowship in oncologic pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

    Dr Pigeon received her medical degree from St. Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. She completed a clinical pathology residency at the VA Medical Center in Boston, Mass, and an anatomic pathology residency at New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston. She received fellowship training in surgical pathology at the Yale University School of Medicine and in cytopathology at both Yale and Hahnemann-Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospitals. Dr Pigeon has held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and the University of South Florida. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the College of American Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Medical Association, and the Florida Medical Association.

    Dr Wu is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology. She received her medical degree from Guangzhou Medical College, Guangzhou, China. She was a research fellow at the University of Southern California Los Angeles County Medical Center. She completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of South Florida and fellowship training in oncologic surgical pathology and cytopathology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute University of South Florida in Tampa. She received her medical degree from Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, People’s Republic of China, and her doctorate in neuroscience from Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences–Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She completed her residency training at Yale–New Haven Hospital and a cytopathology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Afterward, Dr Giebisch worked as an attending pathologist at Yale–New Haven Hospital. Before joining Labcorp pathology, Dr Giebisch was an assistant professor of pathology at the University of Connecticut Health Center.
